Publishing a webgui application

It would be helpful if someone could lay out ,step by step, the process for publishing a webgui app on a windows 2003 server. I've read what I can find in the docs and here in the forums but it's been a long time since I did anything with IIS and rather than experiment...for instance, I saw mention of using a virtual directory? In the IIS console, on the "default web site" can I simply add a "web site", say I call it vwgapp01, and publish to that?

Also, do I need to install anything from vwg on the server? I've tried to install the sdk but it warns that the vs update has not been installed (for web app projects). But, I don't have vstudio install on the win2003 server. Here in the forums there is mention of a 'server installation', what is that?

Finally I'm not sure what file are supposed to be published. I have tried publishing to the http address of the win2003 server's vwg app folder but nothing appears. If I try to manually copy I'm not sure what the "project files" as mentioned in the faq consist of.

Thanks

Re: Publishing a webgui application

Hello

1) Create the virtual directory app01 for example

2) Copy your project bin folder include the Gizmox dlls that youre using in your project

3) Copy your resources folders

4) Copy web.config in the web applications root folder like a normal web app

5) I also register the wgx extension theres instructions in the documenttions

6) I use a index.htm to redirecto to the wgx form to be opened

Thats the steps I made to publish my app, is there another way Guy can explain it better

Re: Publishing a webgui application

Thanks...I don't have a resource folder in the app (simple test with form1.vb). On the dev box, there is no form1.wgx file listed in the solution explorer, though as per instructions I've made that the "specific page" for the start action...and that does seem to be the file that opens when I run the app.

???

Do the files and folders you mention go directly into the root of the virtual folder? IE, web.config is in the root?

Re: Publishing a webgui application
Also, still unsure about what has to be installed on the server, in the forums there are refs to some vwg server software but is that the sdk, if it's the sdk it won't install because it requires vs etc as I mentioned before.

Hello

Yes I put the bin folder and the web.config in the root of the virtual directory, check this images of my project. In this case, I have images and icons so I put then in a resource forlder.

Virtual Directory Root 1

Virtual Directory Bin folder

Register wgx extension in IIS
