The DNN Admin project creates a more robust way of managing DotNetNuke based sites. As the current admin is very impressive and enables inline editing experience, it is a quite an overhead when massive updates are made or when you wish to manage the site tabs and modules structure rather than the content. DNN Admin also leverages the Visual WebGui framework benefits to create a fully AJAX enabled web application that is as responsive as a client application with the advantages of web based application.

Visual DNN Admin is built over a Visual Generic Admin which is a framework for creating complex applications that are fully customized and extendable. The WebGui Generic Admin framework defines Nodes, Tabs and Fields that are mapped together by an XML definition. This makes a Visual Generic Admin based application fully customizable by means of adding new tabs using generic tabs that can be customized through the definition file or by inheriting WebGui base classes to create any custom UI or business logic.

The Visual DNN Admin has an MMC like tree that enables navigating DNN portal elements. Actions are defined in the WebGui Generic Admin definition file enabling definition of permissions and adding new actions. While all the application mapping is managed through the definition file, actions can easily be added or removed for any tab, node, item and so on.
