Re: Cannot access disposed object: DesignerFrame

Hi

My notes on this post http://www.visualwebgui.com/Developers/Forums/tabid/364/forumid/29/threadid/46187/scope/posts/Default.aspx show the steps I can still do to reproduce the "Cannot access disposed object: DesignerFrame" error at will.

I am using 6.4d, VS2008, .NET 3.5 on XP Pro.

Hope this helps.

Re: Cannot access disposed object: DesignerFrame

Hi NR,

Thanks for the update. I can not reproduce using your scenario, but non the less, I dug a little deeper in the sample application that I  attached in the text body of the tracker entry as I can reproduce at will using that application. I did find a clue that I have notified the developer on, so hopefully we have found something that helps us fixing this problem.

Re: Cannot access disposed object: DesignerFrame

More (again) on this issue:

I have totally fresh install of the entire PC and VS/WebGUI environment - motherboard died and PC had to be replaced!
Now I have started to get much more frequent “Cannot access disposed object” issues – 3X this morning and it is only 10AM.
In the third ocurrence, I had not even opened a form - just the user code file for the form opened automatically when VS re-opened the project. The issue occurred while I was writing this post...

I experienced the issue almost as soon as I began to use VS2008. No add-ins or VS extensions at that time. I have now installed Visual SVN for integrated source control, but that’s it…
So VS 2008 (SP1), VWG 6.4D, Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bit..

Of course same application code… In this case not using navigation tabs in the active project, but it does use nested split containers, headered panels and a custom treeview...

Re: Cannot access disposed object: DesignerFrame

Digging around a little more, I find this posting from someone using a custom designer (who fixed his problem):

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vsx/thread/181e4890-4e3d-47a9-8058-6fba80a24b27/

This may help with the investigation....

Re: Cannot access disposed object: DesignerFrame

 Hi Geoff,

Thanks for the update. I added a link to the MSDN blog to the tracker entry.

As you may have noticed, the tracker entry is being processed (In Progress status), and I know it has been discussed to place a try/catch protection around this particular call to dispose. This may or may not be the final result, because placing this "plaster" there may be protecting against the actual root cause of the error, which we need to track down.

Thanks again,

Palli
