Gizmox opening our office (part 1)

In this post I would like to share with you guys our current activities regarding the makings of Gizmox the company. Well as some of you might have read we have raised venture capital funding and we are working on providing a commercial entity that will stand behind Visual WebGui. After the long hours of negotiating with the VC and all and sining tons of pages written in very small fonts we are finally on the way. As of from the beginning of this month I am an employee of Gizmox the company which means that I have a leasing car, a pay check. It is good to be back in the paid workers community and doing the thing I like best programming Visual WebGui.

It is a good thing no one told me that opening a startup is such a hard job cause I would have second thoughts... just kiding... So we searched for an office and finally we found a nice location which we immediately felt it was our destiny to be there at least until next year when we will grow to be 1000 employees... Just joking... Well now it hosts Gizmox Ltd...

In the same time we were working on renting an office we also started to look into furniture and equipment for the office. It was a very good thing that our CEO (Navot Peled by the way) also owns a furniture business so that part was rather easy and we got some very unique furniture in a very good price. Equipment on the other hand was quite an head-ace. While I knew what we need and how much the variety and range of prices is huge and I must admit that I am no system administrator although I am starting to be one. When we finally managed to comprise our list and select our vendor the buying part was easy.

So basically we had this week covered with office stuff from setting our network infrastructure to getting the furniture we wanted. Many tasks that my back now remembers very good, to good actually. After all the hard work we finally received all the equipment yesterday which meant more hard work. Lots of computers to install and cables to connect but it was an historical moment when the stations were starting to shape up.

Oh, a very important thing I have not mentioned... recruiting developers... well here is a stinking task. It is like trying to convince a spoiled 5 year old boy to eat his vegetables. They all love the job but the opportunities they have are confusing them. This is the employee era not the employer era with lots of tempting jobs with tempting treats but we are working on it very hard. By the way if you are from Israel and you would like to make a living from developing Visual WebGui you are invited to send your resume to jobs@visualwebgui.com.

We had already added a very strong player named Itzsik Shpitzen which is a very talented developer that was up until now the VPRND of a large company that did allot of work with Visual WebGui. He will join us as VPRND at the beginning of august and I am sure that you guys will love him. He is much better then me on explaining stuff and working with dead lines so prepare for the documented, on time releases era of Visual WebGui. By the way if you are wondering what is my title well Chief Architect for me was always the place to be. It is like the highest rank a developer can receive where you still do the good stuff.

So that is all for now. I guess next time I will have more system issues to share with you when my Chief Architect title will no more describe me and System Administrator will stick to me like a fly on a web. I will soon add some pictures of our new office.
