Any definitive comparisions?
Modified By KBSC on 12/5/2010 8:32:30 AM)

I've read some of the literature on the site, and it is impressive. I've been a developer for 20 odd years, starting as a maintenance mainframe programmer, transitioning through client server apps and relational databases, with a long stint as in QA (manual and automated) as well as a DB developer (Access and SQL Server) - I find myself with a web development project. Mmmmm. Tasty.

I like what I see here because it is geared for the business community as opposed to a lot of the web technologies that are for play.  The idea of using a VB6 approach to creating web apps is great. Not every business app should be on the web, but there are some. It does evoke the mainframe, because deployment to workstations is eliminated.

That said, are there any unbiased 3rd party reviews or articles about the VWG approach compared to the others such as MS-VS Express, ASP.NET, or the like? Any performance comparisions in real-life conditions?  Learning curve comparisons?

Any references or personal opinions are welcome.

Re: Any definitive comparisions?

Welcome to the VWG world.

We ran a VWG based system from a server on one side of Australia to the other to a remote railway line job (basically in the middle of nowhere) with about 20 users connected via one 3G wireless connection and the story back from the site was that all remote applications were slow but ours was the quckest.

To see some more of the things we have been up to with VWG you can see details of our APaaS (Application Platform as a Service) capability at www.eziadmin.com to easily click and flick business systems (see the Documentation section for details). The next project for this capability is a $7.5b coal mine, 700km railway line and shipping port with about 50 subcontractors involved.....that will be done via the www.workslink.com.au website but am just getting the technical capability listed up on the EziAdmin site for now.

Re: Any definitive comparisions?

Thanks for your input Andrew.

Seems like you've added a layer or two on top of VWG.

I'm glad it's worked out for you!

What about client side validations in VWG? Cn they still be performed for required fields, cross compares, range checking, etc? Or is this done on the server also?
