Re: VEM License - how can I use it?

Hi Kirchi,

Visual WebGui SDK which includes the server + SDK is provided under the LGPL license. You can see it with in the installation and with in the open source code. If at any place there is a different license it is a mistake.

We have lots of customers doing real world commercial apps and getting our full free support. We have provided in the past year or two, a free tool which have brought our customers lots of commercial transactions without them paying us a cent.

Regarding support and commercial use of the product, we are in final stages of airing our commercial store and support which will offer non LGPLed license and support ticketing system.

I would like to state that as your first post, you are kind of quick to jump to conclusions. Community members, participating in this forum got more than standard support and in some cases even what  can be categorized as more than commercial support for FREE!!! while providing for real world commercial applications.

I hope to see you using our products and participating in our community and benefiting from our FREE and non free offerings.

Cheers,

Hi all,

We keep getting inquiries about Visual WebGui commercial licensing and support.

Although we keep answering private inquires I want to announce our plans on this issue publically, so that you all be informed.

We are in the final stages of setting up our commercial offering and management infrastructure. It will allow self service management of one's account as well as on line tracking of assignments in the most open and transparent manner that characterized our activities up to now.
It is scheduled to be aired up till the 10th of April 2008.

Just a quick overview, we are going to offer a well balanced and thought of support and professional services stack of packages to suit diversified needs, as well as permissive per developer seat subscription licenses , constituting our basic approach of free unlimited deployment .

Our support and professional services packages will include technical support, incident attendance as well as banks of hours that you will be able to draw from with high availability and SLA priority, all at what we believe to be reasonable and affordable prices.

Run time charge will only be applicable for VWG premium cluster server and monitoring, which will be announced later this year.

Rest of our products are design time based charge to allow you fellow developer profitable use of our products.

Hope you will enjoy our extended support, services and licensing offerings, we are quite open and willing to listen to any enlightens, requests and comments you might have.

My email and our senior management contacts will be available for all, and I promise response to your queries.

Keep up the good work

Re: VEM License - how can I use it?

Hello Guy,

Thanks for replying,

Sorry for my tone in previous message, I just want to explain the situation we have -

We had a project that fitted WebGui framework very much, we wrote several mails several monthes ago (to be exact 3 monthes ago) and got no reply.

I was very concious that with WebGui we could economy at least 100-200 man days for 500 man days project,

now we spent already 300 and it seems we will not win anything - averything is going so far up to the project plan.

I sleep and see JSON in my dreams :) , cause we have implemented all the rich functionality you have automated - manually by hand and the same time did not have a time to create productive - reusable framework (in this case we could have WebGui -2 ) :).

So the only reason I was upset is the lost time and possibility of not happening this.

I understand LGPL and did not meant you have to make commercial support free by no means - I understand very well the complexity of creation of such a framework, and amount of efforts spent by Gizmox team.

The only thing I wanted to point to - is to provide the commercial license - not to private ones but to all. Why on earth my concurent should be better than me ? We work hard we want to stay on top of new technologies, so why some get replies, and some not (actually its true in our case - our concurents just releazed very good software built on Gizmox - I cannot name it sorry). That's what I asked - why dont you have it public.

Thank you very much for clearing this out, I am waiting for 10'th of April, we have got some more software to build and it is much more complicated - so again we need WebGui.

Thanks.

Re: VEM License - how can I use it?

Hi,

Although I can understand how you feel, I must tell you that we never distinguish between questions we are asked on any personal or payment basis. Furthermore, until we will air the commercial site with our commercial offering we don't get played for anything (except for some very specific custom developments or early requests for a non LGPL license).

3 months ago we had a major spam problem with our support email so in case you have sent your emails to there, there is a chance that it was lost. We encourage community members to start a conversation in a forum thread, so that community members will be able to reply and communicate with one another and in case there is a specific need to use emails we redirect them to send an email to support.

As soon as the commercial offering will be available the new "Cases" system will help you to get commercial support, but until then, there is no such option...

I hope this will clarifies the support issue,

Regards,
Itzik Spitzen
