| The Never-Ending Loading... |

OK, I give up. I setup IIS so that the WGX extension gets handled the same as ASPX. I've gotten VEM's login screen to come up once, but couldn't log in.
Now, all I get when I go to console.wgx is a "Loading..." screen with a never ending progress bar. In both IE and Firefox. Also, I have restarted IIS a half-dozen times.
Please don't take this as an insult, but I've been looking all through your site for information on this, but there is very little on this site that addresses the VEM project. Instead, it's all about the Visual WebGUI platform. I'm trying to offer constructive criticism: spend some time developing a basic FAQ or common troubleshooting issues pages for VEM.
Anyhow, does anyone have any suggestions for my issue? (I'm running W2K3 Server Web w/ SP2/IIS6). ASP.NET 2.0 framework installed. I've also deleted cookies, and web cache. Still only get the Loading... screen that never loads. (I stepped away for dinner, came back 20 mins later and was still staring at Loading...).

Ok, I finally figured out what was going on. I finally noticed the web.config and the need to point it to the absolute path of the .xml file.
However, the loading... screen issue still remains, even with console.wgx listed as the default document in IIS. But, what I was able to do was setup an index.html file that redirects to the page. I discovered that instead of going to http://sitename/sqlmgr, if I typed in http://sitename/sqlmgr/console.wgx, the script came up ok.
Ok, I'm beyond that, and have been able to login as SA.
However, perhaps I'm missing something. It doesn't appear that I can do a whole lot at this stage. I do not have any menu options under "Actions". Not sure what is going on there.
Also, I'm getting an error in IE's status bar that reads: "Information: Connection Released". When I expand it for details, I get the following:

Hi,
We will check the issues in the VEM application and update it soon. Due to our intensive efforts to push the VWG framework forward we did not maintain that projects. We will soon be publishing a Subversion source control solution which will provide developers with easy access to the different application codes which will help us maintain those applications. As you might have read in the forum and in my posts we are in the process of expanding our operations and creating Gizmox the company behind Visual WebGui so part of our efforts as a company will be to provide "ready to use" applications that show the power of VWG.
Regarding the error that you are experiencing I would suggest rebuilding the project with the latest VWG version. In any case we will make sure that this project is up and running real soon.

While I'm thinking about it, the VEM doesn't appear to work with Mozilla Firefox. On the login page, the Login and Clear buttons didn't do anything. Web applications really should be cross-browser compatible in this day and age.  |
