FCKEditor.Value not updating

Hello all,

There seems to be a problem with the FCK editor's value property.

Situation

I have a form with 2 panels, in the left panel i have 2 buttons that change the right panel.

Button1 opens the introduction page which is just a simple page with some text, no buttons or textareas or anything.

Button2 opens the FCK editor and sets the value to some random text from a database

I'm using the gizmox FCK editor control for this, not the FCKLibrary that's for download on this website but the one thats a part of the gizmox library.

This is all done without any full postbacks, the url in the address bar doesn't change.

The browser that i'm using is IE 7, i can't test this with firefox because the page that displays the FCK editor doesn't render my submit button in firefox.

Problem

The first time I try to edit text with the fck editor everything works fine, the text get set and displayed correctly and when the changed text is submitted the value of the FCK editor is the changed text.

When i open the fck editor then open the introduction page and then open the FCK editor again things are different. The text is still displaying correctly but when i submit (by using a button) the value of the FCK editor is still the original value from the database, any changes made to the text are ignored.

Is this a known issue? is there a workaround for this?

Re: FCKEditor.Value not updating

Hi Danny and welcome to the forums,

No I have not seen this reported before.

Best way to describe those problems is by creating a most minimal application that demonstrates the problem(s) and then send your application to support [at] visualwebgui [dot] com with a link to this forum thread, along with some description about how to reproduce the problem.

Please also clean the solution before compressing it and reply to this post after sending, so we will know to check for your support request.

Preferably, it would be best if you could reproducd this without a database connection, but if connection to database is needed, please make sure you will either be using all memory based data or the MSSQL Northwind sample database for your connection(s)

Remember to include information about what VWG version you are using, as well as you Visual Studio version+type and operating system version.

Re: FCKEditor.Value not updating

Hi Danny,

I tested a simple scenario with FCKEditor from version 6.3.8, which should be very similar or the same as the one with 6.3.7a.

I used the FCKEditor control from the Gizmox.WebGUI.Forms.Extended and copied the FSKEditor folder from the 6.3.8 Catalog app.

I don't seem any problem in this simple scenario, so we definately need some sample application to reproduce.
