  Hi Guys,

Thanks for ansering my question, i guess it's clear to be now, but just to be sure :)

Here  you say 'With “VWG Cluster Server extension” installed on the server', if i understand it well it's inside the 6.4 core so you don't have to install anything, just change your web.config and change your code with the macro's you have available, right?

Can you tell a bit more about the licensing, is it just an agrement and can you remove the wavier like you can do now or is there really some licensing structure you have to activate on the productionservers? Is there only the  $500,- processor price or can you buy it also for a whole environment, is this lifetime or only for the current running version?

In the picture here  you say 'available march 2009' i guess this should be september.

Best regards,

Tom

PS: Nice Mr. Palli has a face now :)

Sorry for the terrible layout, dont know why its all mixe up.

Guy/Eyal - It would really help to have a demo application of the Serialization.  I'd be happy to build one if I understood just a little more.

Two questions for you:

  • Best Practices for Entities? - All my screens rely on databound Entities, which are holding the actual values.  This Entity graph is very important.  For instance, all my calculated fields are in the Entities themselves (Business Layer) - not the UI code.  I'm very curious as to how I should be storing only the ID of my Entities, instead of the Entities themselves?
  • Custom Serialization? - All my LLBLGen Entities are serializable.  However - LLBLGen Pro supports two different serialization methods.  Normal serialization (slower) and FastSerialization (MUCH faster).  I want to control how my Entities are being serialized - by using the FastSerialization method.  Will this be possible with VWG?

What are the recommended best practices?  Thank you very much -

Ryan

PS. Good seeing you, Palli!  When I first saw your crazy hair, I was saying to myself - "oh my...."

Hi Ryan and Tom,

I'll leave the more serious questions to the real geeks, that do still keep their hair

Just had to say thanks...

P.S. I kind of wondered if I should have kept the hair through the video, and not take it off, but then again I knew you would have the "oh my..." expression written all over your faces, so I decided it was a common courtecy to show the boss you have shorter hair than he has

Take care,

Palli

Re: A new "Geeks on a role" episode focusing on scalability (and Palli).

 Hi Tom.

Thank you for drawing my attention to these places I will have a talk with the relevent guys tommorow to have those places fixed.

Regarding installation... you understood correctly from 6.4 the serialization does not require any server installation and the text you quoted is out dated and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Regarding the license it simply a file you puy on your server which will remove the waver and make it available for non LGPL usages. Regarding pricing and such I will let our marketing guys or itzik explain here as I am not quite sure what are the plans here... as it should be integrated when 6.4 will come to its commercial period after it will be released officialy.

I belive it is lifetime license for the server unrelated to version... but again I will make sure that the marketing guys will clear this up and introduce a clear vision...

Regarding the date it will be officialy released with 6.4...

Cheers,
Guy
