Re: Mono framework support
Hello Mark!

Wow, thanks for the kind words!

I sent an urgent request to our website dev team to change the text according to the correct information:
Until VWG v6.1.4 we support both Net1.1 and Net2.0 installations on Mono and after v6.1.4 we support only Net2.0 installations on Mono, as there will be no more Net1.1 installations.

Thanks for your support and help!

Regards,

Ori Cohen

Re: Mono framework support
Ori,

Thanks for clarifying that!
I have a question - can I use .net 2.0 VWG SDK with VS2008 to compile for mono? Or should I only use VS2005?
The reason I ask is that .net 2.0 VWG SDK seem to ask for a "web application kit for VS2005" while trying to install it with VS2008. Is it possible to use the SDK in VS2008 targeting 2.0 and not having that web kit installed (is it a hard requirement)?

I do also join to the Mark's comment about the awesomeness of the project ;)

Thank you!

Re: Mono framework support
Hello,

Thanks!
Welcome to Visual WebGui!

The VWG Net2.0 installations are only for MS Visual Studio 2005. They install our assemblies, templates, our VWG package, our documentation etc.

As a result of this, I guess the answer is no.

But if having the two SDKs installed on your system is an option, then you can do the following:
- Install the Net2.0 and Net3.5 VWG SDKs of the same version, preferably v6.2.1.
- Open your registry editor and go to the following registry path:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\AssemblyFolders
- Copy the value in the "Gizmox SDK 2.0" key to the "Gizmox SDK 3.5".

From that moment on, all VWG applications on this conputer will reference the Net2.0 VWG assemblies.

Re: Mono framework suppor
Thank you, Ori for the tip!

I did install VS2005 and VWG 6.2.1 .NET 2.0 SDK - it did work well after installing VS2005 SP1 update. Also, Mono 2.0 was able to run the produced sample application from that SDK - very exciting! ;)

If Mono team follow their roadmap - the full .NET 3.5 support is coming by the end of 2009, then all the VWG versions will be mono citizens.

Re: Mono framework suppor

Hi,

For your informaton, a new series on Visual WebGui deployment on Mono have now been published here. The articles discuss installation of a basic operating system, Mono, Apache2 and mod_mono, as well as setup and deployment instructions for running simple Visual WebGui application in this environment.

After testing this environment and writing the article(s) it can now be officially confirmed that all NET versions (NET2.0/VS2005, NET3.5/VS2008 and NET4.0/VS2010) can be successfully deployed and run on the current stable version of Mono (version 2.10).
