Jay (et al),
I was also able to set up the crashing condition by (1) first renaming form1.cs to mainform.cs (as outlined in my last post) and then saving the entire project/solution. Now (2) re-open the solution and open both the mainform.cs and the mainform.cs [Design], so that both tabs are opened in the visual studio code window area. (This might require just opening mainform.cs and then right-clicking to select "View Designer") Next (3), with both tabs open (Mainform.cs & MainForm.cs [design], make some code changes to MainForm.cs. Finally, (4), right click and select "View Designer". If the properties grid window is blank, (again except for the top dropdown), then as I said in my last post, select the form (or any control) from the dropdown at the top of the properties grid window. VS should crash.
Please note that I found that if I closed the Mainform.cs [design] tab before switching to it with a right click on "View Designer" from MainForm.cs, then the property grid was not blank, and VS does not crash. I am not fully certain of all the conditions involved in the crash, but they seem to involve (1) a renamed Form1.cs (2) holding both MainForm.cs & MainForm.cs[design] open in the code/designer window (3) making a change to the code file and (4) trying to switch to the designer using a right-click to View Designer.
I am hoping someone else will verify that there is a crash on the steps I have outlined here.
Bill
