Hi guys,
We appreciate all your comments, but I encourage you, if you haven't done so already, to create mimimal samples with the wrapped controls you have problems with and send those samples to support so we can have a look. I don't promise you that everything will be fixed, but I can promise you everything will be looked at and evaluated and I am sure that we will be able to figure out together how to do it. There have been quite much changes to the wrapper in the past few months so it has been much improved.
If you choose to create and emails those samples, then please make sure they are complete, with the binary for the wrapped control and with a form that does use it as you best know how. If a database connection is needed, then make it to the NorthWind sample database. Detailed description of what the problem is as well as the version of Visual WebGui used would of course be needed.
And, I think it would be best to create a new thread for every case sent to support and then send in the sample with a link to that new thread.

I have been actively struggling to get the Intersoft's WebGrid Enterprise 7 (http://www.intersoftpt.com/webgrid/) to work, to no avail. I will be happily forwarding along a couple sample issues I'm having. Unfortunately I'm still getting errors creating new threads in your forums, so I'm going to describe my issues here.
I'm running VWG version 6.3.13.
Issue #1 - The request/response cycle does not appear to be functioning properly under Internet Explorer 8, but appears to work fine under Firefox. When performing an operation in the grid, it just "hangs" (endless busy state). I'm sending IntersoftWebGridSample-ResponseHangUnderIE8.zip to support for this issue. Instructions to duplicate the issue are at the top of the sample form.
Issue #2 - After figuring out that the ASP.NET grind is not terribly happy binding to a BindingSource (which I suppose I can understand), I got it initially binding up to a DataTable. However, any changes to the data source will not appear. Rebinding does not have any visual effect, even following the (seemly straight-forward) methods described in Intersoft's support area. I'm sending IntersoftWebGridSample-RebindGridHasNoEffect.zip to support for this issue. Instructions to duplicate the issue are at the top of the sample form.
Any help you can give would be welcomed. I'm at the point in my project where if I can't get this to work, we'll be falling back to developing a traditional WinForms application, simply because we can't wait to start development any longer (deadlines can be awfuly inconvenient). So these issues will literally make-or-break our ability to move forward with the product.
Thanks!

I appreciate your willingness to continue trying to get this 3rd party wrapping thing working but the point of my post was to try to highlight the fact that, other than "simple" controls, it appears (at least from all the posts I've read) that for most people, it simply isn't working. There are a lot of 3rd party controls I'd love to use in VWG but until I see a lot more positive posts, I won't be going there. Personally, I'd much rather have you guys working on core VWG (6.4) and get that working before trying to tackle 3rd party stuff.

Hi Drew,
Do you still get error when you try to create new threads on the public forums ? What error do you get ? If you wish, you can email your username and password to the support email address and we can take a look. The email address can be found in my signature and please include a full reference to this thread in the email. If you choose to do so, please post here when you have sent it so we know when to look for the email.
Second, regarding the wrapper. There have been some major fixes in all the latest Visual WebGui versions, targeting some problem we found when testing wrapped controls user did send in as applications. The same is true for 6.3.14, so before we take this further, I would suggest that you upgrade to 6.3.14 and then you need to rewrap the control in that version. Please make sure you rewrap it so you will get all the latest fixes in the wrapper.
If you still have problems, then please build an application demonstrating how you use it or want to use it, clean the project, zip it and email it to the support email address (see my signature) along with a full reference to this thread. Again, if you do, please create a new thread first and then include a full reference of that thread in the email message. Please also post on the thread when you are done sending so we know when to look.

Hi Dave,
We are of course also fixing the Wrapper in our updates, also in 6.4 so it's also very important to us. As you can see from my last reply, then wrapping in 6.3.13 or earlier is not the same as wrapping in 6.3.14, as some major changes have been made in every version. If you upgrade your Visual WebGui it is also necessary to rewrap to take advantage of the new wrapper updates.
I know there have been some problems in the past, and I remember myself testing the wrapper on the FreeTextBox control, at first unsuccessfully. At that time I reported all the problems I had and they have been fixed. Last test wrapping the control was sucessful and I could do basic usage on it. I didn't test it deep, but the problems I had before, they were gone. So there are improvements, and it is worth testing the wrapper on problematic controls in a new Visual WebGui version and it is also relevant to let us know of the problems you have wrapping others, otherwise we just assume all is well.
Basic wrapping of ASP.NET controls, the simple ones at least, should be almost point and click.
