Re: LGPL Once and for ALL

Hi Ori

Yeah, that's not hidden at all; I'd never seen that, of course. Going back quite a ways, I think the terms were 'contact us' and somehow I got the impression that gizmox wanted to partner with OEM/SaaS projects. I am not sure when you listed the 5k price?. Because of my impression of onerous terms for OEM I stopped considering vwg a long time ago, and would just check back in once in a while to see how things were shaping up.

It would have been extremely cool if when I first asked about this someone had ref'd that page; the fact that no one would provide pricing seemed to confirm that it was something obscured. As you know some software firms want to get you hooked and then when it comes time to grow up, they let you in on the bad news. I am very pleased to see that gizmox isn't doing that.

I mentioned my (now seen to be wrong) impression that OEM meant partnering with gizmox in the third post in this thread on Aug 26. That was approx 17 posts in this thread ago...in that post of Aug 26, I wrote to Palli

"If I recall (and it's been a while) the OEM/SaaS license involved virtually partnering with gizmox, revenue sharing or something like that. If my impression is correct, it's a pretty unusual condition, and one I'm not too keen on. Can you correct or comfirm my impression?"

As you can see I was not asserting that I had the right idea, at all, it was just my impression. Two months later and so many posts later, you've cleared up my misunderstanding. I wish it had not taken so long. I wish someone had said on Aug 27, "look at Home Page -> Products -> OEM/SaaS -> Buy".

I looked a number of times for terms. I now see that the faq says "Q: When do I have to pay for OEM / SaaS license? click to expand A: You can choose between two models. Pre-pay a lump sum of $5000 per named application just before you reach deployment to your 5th user/organization for a lifetime royalty free deployment of the specific named application or choose to pay-as-you-go a monthly fee which allows you to create revenue and minimize risks." Is that new? I looked through there before and didn't see pricing laid out like that. Maybe it's been recently updated, I don't know; before I thought it said 'contact us'. Nothing contradicted my idea that some kind of exotic revenue sharing or partnership was the model.

Oh well. It's good news, just a lot of useless thrashing around in the interim.

Re: LGPL Once and for ALL

Hello [mong],

Wow, I wish I had been there for you in August, to direct you to the OEM/SaaS page and pricing.
Sorry about that. I am happy though that you now have the information you need.

Regarding the "pay as you go" pricing method for the OEM/SaaS license, it is indeed as you guess very new.
Customers that are not very large organizations have been saying to us in that past that paying 5000$ in advance for this license before any revenuce has been produced, is simply too much.
Consulting with professionals on this field, we decided to offer a much more flexible way of payment for this license.

Not sure you have noticed, both payment methods for the OEM/SaaS license lead to the sales Contact Us page when pressing on the "Add To Cart" button.
