Hi,

It seems like you are trying to install the express version on Visual Studio Professional version, am I right?

In case I am, then this version can be installed on MS Web Developer Express (the free Visual Studio version) only.

As for the license type, it is LGPL unless you purchase a Professional Studio license or OEM deployment license.

Please let us know if you need more info on the subject.

Kind Regards,
Itzik Spitzen

Re: Form Designer Blank in Studio Express 2008

It's VWG express edition 637a installed on Web Developer Express 2008.

I do have Visual Studio Pro 2008 installed on my PC but I've just checked there now and It does not have the VWG App templates.
I did not expect to see them there as It's the express VWG. I just thought I'd double check.

Re: Form Designer Blank in Studio Express 2008

Another Update:

I took the drastic measure and :

1. removed visual studio pro 2008
2. removed webdeveloper express 2008
3. Searched my full hard disk and removed all references to gizmox and Webgui files from my Pc
4. Cleaned the registry
5. Searched registry for any references to gizmox and webgui and removed them just in case there were leftovers
6. rebooted
7. checked registry agan for references to gizmox and webgui (none found)
8. Re-instaled visual web developer express 2008
9. Rebooted
10. Re-installed 637a (non-source) version of SDK.
11. Create new VWG app in Express developer 2008 and same problem with blank screen

This is extremely frustrating,  I have developed several apps in VWG 614 that are working great for clients.

I've had a client that asked if firefox 3 and google chrome would work for their app, so I decided to download the new version,.
I really wasn't expecting this hassle.

Any helpers please, please, please. I'm losing faith in the new VWG

Pete

Yet another update.

I can't believe I'm the only guy having this problem.

Ok, I see vesion 6.3.8 released today. I downloaded, crossed my fingers, Installed but still the same problem.

So I uninstalled 6.3.8, and installed 6.4 preview. This works fine yet again. I can access the form designer. I copied the license key that was installed with 6.4 preview into a temp folder. Then i uninstaled 6.4 and re-installed 6.3.8 just to see if the key looked different. They were identical, so it doesn't appear to be the key. Although when I double click on a form noe in 6.3.8, I still get the following in the windows application log:

22:50:

Product: Visual WebGUI Express Studio 1.1 (Build 6.3.8) For .NET 3.5 -- Installation completed successfully.

I then load up web developer express, Create a new VWG app, Double click on the form and blank screen and the following message in the windows application log

22:52

License type ('') does not agree with product license type ('{097C17C5-AA29-49ff-9DC6-5AA8F6A59B20}')

Still struggling and in need of help, down about a week at this stage.

Thanks in advance,

Pete

Re: Form Designer Blank in Studio Express 2008

Hello Pete,

My guess is that you are running over MS Windows Vista or Windows 7.

You need to make sure your user has FULL administrative privilages on this machine, and then modify the shortcut to MS Visual Studio Express 2008 to run the application as an administrator.

If running Visual Studio as a administrator still does not resolve this problem, you would need to uninstall the VWG installation and the reinstall it by running the installation *.msi file through the windows command-line adding the "/A" argument, forcing the installation to run with administrative privilages.

Please reply to tell me how this went.
