Silverlight Beta SDK Running problems
I'm running VWG Silverlight Beta 2 on Windows XP SP3, Visual Studio 2005 with MS Silverlight Beta 2, VWG 6.1.1 and Visual WebGui Silverlight SDK beta. I can't compile Silverlight Application because every time VWG Silverlight Packaging Tool returns error. I've tested, also, VWG Silverlight Packaging Tool application: no solution file found when I search from this application; if I force to use an .sln VWG Silverlight Solution, the Packaging Tool give me a error messagebox.

Any solution to these problems?

Thanks

Re: Silverlight Beta SDK Running problems
Hello,

I need to gather some more information from you in order to be able to help you fix this problem.
This is what I need:
  • The error/s text you get from the packaging tool
  • I need to know if the VWG application you are trying to compile is a new application created over v6.1.1 or an older on upgraded to this new version. If older, please specify what versions it went through.
  • I need to know if you use templates from older versions or updates ones to v6.1.1.
  • I need the "Themes" and "SilverlightPackages" sections of your Web.config file.
  • I need the entire contents of the Deployment.config file that resides in the "Properties" folder in your solutions.
Please reply to this post with this information that I have requested, and I'll be happy (and able) to help...

Regards,

Ori Cohen

Hello,
I am having the same problem so I thought I would post my info.
I did a fresh install on two different computers with Visual Studio 2008 installed with the same results.  One computer is running XP SP3 the other is running Vista SP1.  I installed the 6.1.1a community .net 3.5 package followed by the 6.1.1a Silverlight package.  I started VS2008 and created a new C# project using the C# Visual WebGUI Silverlight Application template taking the default project name. Once the project was created I tried to build the project. During the build the following error occurred:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Re: Silverlight Beta SDK Running problems

That was the issue.  I did not realize there was a separate "Microsoft Silverlight Tools Beta 2 for Visual Studio 2008" package.  This can  be found at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=50A9EC01-267B-4521-B7D7-C0DBA8866434&displaylang=en

Thanks for you help...
