Set "wgx" Extension on Vista
Hi,
Trying to set "wgx" Extension following WebGui SDK manual, I find it was for Win XP than for Vista. In Vista I can't find the Properties tab. Can you provide the set "wgx" instructions for Vista? Thanks.

Vista uses IIS7, if I remember correctly.

Maybe this will help

here

Re: Set "wgx" Extension on Vista, VS Studio 2008: Solution from China
I found help from a user in China in this post, and it worked well for me:
http://www.cnblogs.com/david-chan/archive/2008/01/02/1023748.html

The explanation is in Chinese and I translate it as below, hope it may help others:
In Vista from Control panel Administrative Tools Computer Management open IIS Manager, double click Handler Manager, double click Handler Mappings, on Action tab at right click Add Script Map...
in Add Script Map dialog enter:
Request path: *.wgx
Executable: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll
Name: VisualWebGUI-Page
Then click Request Restrictions...
Clear Checkbox: Invoke handler only if request is mapped to:
Click OK
Click OK again on Add Script Map
That should do it. It worked for me (Vista Ultimate, VS Studio 2008)

Re: Set "wgx" Extension on Vista, VS Studio 2008: Solution from China

Thanks bango.

I tried all that and when I try and browse the site through IIS I get the error that the directory is not browseable. Painful. I can run it via VS2008 no probs but if I want to see it natutral I have to publish it to our website. I don't like doing this with prototypes but there you go. I am sure that it is simply some other part of the Vista IIs7 config I haven't got right. I would love to see a 'dummys' guide to seeting up a local website (i.e. on my laptop), published from VS2008 and all the IIS7 settings laid out. If that person from china wants to publish a doc with all his settings I would download it.

Cheers
