Installing express studio

I recently attempted to download and install the Express Studio 6.3.13.  I was told I had to uninstall my previous version, which I did.  When I finished the install I thought I would have some type of project templates in either Visual C# 2008 Express or Visual Web Developer 2008 Express, but that is not the case.  I did a full install.  Is this thing supposed to install project templates someplace?  I also checked my VS2008 Professional installation (same machine)  - nothing there either.

Re: Installing express studio

Hello,

Welcome to Visual WebGui.

Visual WebGui Express Studio does not install Visual WebGui project or item templates.
The reason is that MS Visual Studio Express and MS Web Developer do not allow adding templates to them.

Our two other installations: Visual WebGui Professional Studio and Community SDK (both for MS Visual Studio Professional edition) do allow installation of templates.

You can use this article here to learn how to work with Visual WebGui without templates.

Hello,

I would like to correct my last statement.

Recently after writing my last post to you, I found that there were two general types of a MS Visual Studio Express 2008 that behave differently with a Visual WebGui installation:

1.
MS Visual C# 2008 / MS Visual Basic 2008 - in those types of Visual Studio installations, installing Visual WebGui Express Studio would install the Registry keys and values, install the relevant files in their path, install the Visual WebGui assemblies into the GAC and also create the start menu.
What would not get installed are: The Visual WebGui project and item temples, the MS Visual Studio - Visual WebGui integration, and the Visual WebGui help.
The reason those component are not installed, is that those types of MS Visual Studio installations do not support installing those types of exprenal components into them.

2.
MS Visual WebDeveloper Express 2008 - in this type of Visual Studio installation, all our components are installed successfully, when installing the Visual WebGui Express Studio.

I hope this helps in clearing things up.

Ori I've just installed vwg 6.4 express on two different machines that have visual web developer express 2008, and neither of them show the vwg project templates. Do you have any idea why? Both of these machines also have vs 2008 pro installed.

Nevermind, in fact it did work, on one machine at least, which will do for now.

Re: Installing express studio

Hi mong,

Thanks for the confirmation. Please view Ori's last response for possible explanation for the other machine.
