Browser Compatability making me insane!

Hi All,

I have one form in my application that the UI is not behaving correctly in Firefox but works perfectly in IE. I have had this issue for quite some time and I am at a loss as how to rectifiy it.

The application is now live so you can see the problem first hand.

Using IE go to http://musicteachersoffice.com and log in to the sample I have set up with the

User Name : sampleadmin
Password: sampleadmin$

this will bring you to the admin page

Select Registrations and Invoices

then select the Parent |Student tab

and all is perfect

Now do the same thing in Firefox and the Parent | Student tab is all messed up and not resolving properly at all.

I have used all these control on other tabs and forms and all is fine except in this one circumstance.

I am really hoping some one has a solution to this as it's driving me CRAAAAzy.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Browser Compatability making me insane!

Here is a response I recieved from a potential user FYI

Hi,

Feedback - Just want to let you know that we would never use a program that required exclusive use of IE as the browser.  We use MACs exclusively and are happy with Firefox or Safari, but not IE.

Thanks,

Hello,

I opened your application in both IE8 and FF3.6.2.
and it looks almost exactly the same.
I had to look extremely carefully to see any differences and seriously they are almost trivial.

I guess you may be experiencing a local caching problem.
Please try clearing cache in your client (both IE and FF) based on the instructions in this Wiki article here.

Hello,

To clarify:
I followed your scenario very closely and in my last post I referred to the differences between the display of the Form on the specific Tab you asked that we view.

Re: Browser Compatability making me insane!

Ori,

thanks for the clarification! I was going to ask you about that.

I do have some more questions after reading up on the Clearing the Cache in Visual WebGui applications.

First I have employed a VWG Control library that is referenced by an ASP.net website for this solution. Both of which live in the same VS soulution, so when it comes to deleting the obj and bin folders, where do I delete them from? the control library or the ASP.net Website or both? Doing things like that always scare me.

Second I do not have a Visual WebGui integration so in what section of the web.config do I put <add name="VWG_DisableCachingSwitch" value="1" /> ?

Next you you say increase the private Versiojn of the Project. by this I am assuming you want us to change
<PrivateVersion Value="1"/> to this<PrivateVersion Value="2"/>

Thanks loads again,
