Missing References

 Hello there.

My company is interested in VWG, and I am trying to get a feel. I tried downloading and installing evaluation for VWG-Professional 6.4.0 RC0a on my Windows 7 machine, which is running VS2008.

When I created a new project in VS and selected a new VWG Web App, the generated project shows a collection of missing references:

Gizmox.WebGUI.Client

Gizmox.WebGUI.Forms

Gizmox.WebGUI.Forms.Design

Gizmox.WebGUI.Serveral

Strangely, the Gizmox.WebGUI.Common reference is also there, but without any problems. I figured this might be an installation issue, so hopefully I have posted in the correct forum. My sincere apologies if this question has already been dealt with in another thread... I did a search for "missing reference" in the forums, but without a result.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sincere thanks,

Marlon de Silva.

Re: Missing References

Hi Marlon,

Welcome to the Forums

You need to set the Gizmox DLL's to "copy local = True"

You always need Server, Forms and Common but of course you may be using others

I hope this helps

Jay

Re: Missing References

 Thanks very much Jay.

Especially for such a fast response!

Unfortunately, the problem is that when I try and create a project, and then immediately look at the project references folder, the mentioned references are already showing as missing. This is before adding a line of code, or trying to compile.

Have you dealt with this issue in the past?

Best Regards,

Marlon.

Re: Missing References

Hi Marlon,

Ther only thing that comes to mind is to make sure you are creating a VWG project and not a Winforms project.

Normally the references show and just need to be set for Copy local = true.

What you can try is to download a simple sample project and try with that,

You will also find the Comapion Kit is installed under Program Files\Gizmox

Cheers

Jay

Re: Missing References

Hi Marlon

I think that you have downloaded and installed the "with sources" version of VWG

Either uninstall and download the "without sources" version or refer to the following tutorial

http://www.visualwebgui.com/Developers/KB/tabid/654/article/how_to_use_visual_webgui_sources/Default.aspx?category=Code1.Code.Code1

cheers james
