I am not sure if this is an installation error, usually is when you try for the first time.

So, I get a Silverlight errorcode 1001, errortype Parseerror with message AG_E_UNKNOWN_ERROR when I run the form1.swgx in a sample project from within VS2008. The wgx equivalent runs perfectly. What is wrong?

Hi,

You gave me an idea jonah and I think I merely solved my problem. You may try the same if you like.

Uninstall the runtime version of silverlight that came with the dev tools beta 1, then both IE and Firefox prompt you to download the alpha version of 1.1 runtime, do it and install it. Vuala, you have a working silverlight application for IE.

Firefox for some reason still prompts you to download the alpha version. I didn't have the time to search it further but it wouldn't surprise me if the alpha versions of MS products work only for MS products :-) . 

If you know what I mean, anyway is good for testing.

The comment for you guys in vwg is that, probably web apps using silverlight must either "demand" a specific version and prompt for download or play with the latest version available installed or not.

Uninstall only the runtime of silverlight beta 1 not all the components. You don't need to uninstall vwg etc.

Then, having no silverlight runtime run the test swgx, you will be prompted with a download link of alpha runtime. Both browsers will show the prompt page, this is sign that you are in ok. Download and install the alpha version.

The silverlight sdk will remain 2 beta 1 or the vwg ctp will not work.

Your test swgx page should work now in IE only, I couldn't make it to work for firefox.
