why does my browser Window goes white
Modified By sramirez@dynacal.com on 1/12/2012 6:06:34 AM)

As I demonstrate in the attached video, when I do more than 1 click, my browser just turns to a white screen.  Sometimes it will kick me back to a login page.  Sometimes it is on the first click, sometimes the 2nd or 3rd.

http://screencast.com/t/5dRT2BBy7

I have tried both a debug compile and a release compile.  The code works on my developement Windows 2003 R2 x32 server but not on my production Windows 2003 R2 x32 server.  The code also works in developement from Visual Studio 2010.

I get the same results from IE, FF and chrome.  I tried clearing the cache on chrome and incrimenting the Private Build Number.

I am running the latest WebGui Pro Studio Build 6.4.0 Release JQT Beta2b for .Net 4.0

What do I need to change?

Thanks,

Shawn

Update to this post:

I tried again this morning (in IE) on the same computer as I used last night and the site now operates as expected.  I don't understand what went on.  I don't consider this issue closed because if this happens for an update to the code during business hours it would result in an outage.

Still looking for help in understanding this one.  Thanks

Re: why does my browser Window goes white

Hi Shawn,

I still believe that this must be caused by caching, and the fact that your application was working fine this morning, supports that.

Did you clear the browser's cache as part of clearing cache ?

I have seen nasty caching issues (like for instance getting favicon to show correctly) which were not fully resolved until temporary internet files were cleared PLUS clearing browser's history.

Re: why does my browser Window goes white

The browser cache didn't solve the problem, it jus took a little longer for the problem to happen again (I didn't find this out till after I made my second part of the post.

What I had to do to fix the problem was stop the web, go into C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files and delete the folder for my application, restart the web and all worked.

Is this something that I am going to have to do every time?

Re: why does my browser Window goes white

Hi Shawn,

Well, there is a reason for this is one of the steps detailed in the full clear caching procedure we have prepared, and although you can probably get away with skipping that step from time to time, then for sticky caching, you should.

I usually emphasize that before you start spending time on troubleshooting strange errors, especially client related like the one you described, then you run through all the steps and see if they fix it.

Re: why does my browser Window goes white

So am I correct in saying that you would recommend that I run the "full clear caching procedure" every time I make an update to my production server?

Or only if I hear of issues?
