ProStudio 6.4.0c and VS2005

Hi, I purchased a Prostudio 6.x license and I need to develop a library that has to be deployed on a .NET Framework 2.0 so I downloaded the ProStudio for VS2005 (.NET 2.0) 6.4.0c version from the download page.

I have installed it with Visual Studio 2005 professional, but I don't succeed in creating a new project.. When I try to do it I got the following message:

"The project file c:\...\....\VisualWebGuiApplication.csproj cannot be opened. The project type is not supported by this installation"

How can I solve this issue?

Thanks in advance,

Luca

Re: ProStudio 6.4.0c and VS2005

Hi Luca,

Welcome to Visual WebGui

The 2 most common reasons for this problem are:

a) Visual WebGui projects are based on Web Application Projects, and for no-servicepack Visual Studio 2005, it is not included. In SP1 and later of Visual Studio 2005, this should be included.

b) The second most common reason is insufficient security right when installing Visual WebGUi SDK. You need to make sure it's installed with administrative privileges (or run as admin). See more info here.

Hope this helps,

Palli

Re: ProStudio 6.4.0c and VS2005

Hi Palli,

thank you for your answer! Unfortunately I still have the problem after the Visual Studio 2005 service pack installation and after having reinstalled everthing as administrator. I also tryed it on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 but I've always gotten the same error...

do you know any other possible solution for my issue?

thanks,

Luca

Re: ProStudio 6.4.0c and VS2005

Hi Luca,

Please confirm that you have uninstalled Visual WebGui and installed it again after you patched Visual Studio with the service pack ?

In many cases, repair install is not enough, so a full uninstall followed by an install with admin privileges should be performed.

Please also check after you load Visual Studio and go to the Help menu and select About, check that you have "Visual Web Developer 2005" in the list of installed products ?

Re: ProStudio 6.4.0c and VS2005

 Hi Palli,

I confirm.

Today I tried again to uninstall and then reinstall both visual studio 2005 + its service pack and VisualWebGui. I installed VWG after the service pack and after reboot. I also checked the presence of "Visual Web Developer 2005" in the list of installed products, I have it.

I don't know if it is relevant but to uninstall VWG I had to use the control panel->add or remove programs->Visual WevGUi ProStudio 6.4.0c for .NET 2.0. The remove option of the .msi file doesn't seeem to work, when I choose it the form ask me to accept the agreement and then my setup (typical, custom, complete, and after having chosen one ot them the only two clickable buttons are "back" and "cancel"..
