6.4 Important delay?

Upcoming release of the 6.4 version is planned Q3 2010.  (we are in Q3 2010)

But there is still 27 bugs to fix in 6.4 RC1, 238 bugs to fix in 6.4FC and 185 unschedeled bugs.

Again, Gizmox will not make it.  Only few, really few bugs are fixed each day.

Can you please tell us the truth?  Are you workling on someting else?  Do you have enough developpers to fix the bugs?  Why this is so long to have the 6.4 RC1 release?  We are still using 6.3, waiting for a stable 6.4.

Yes we all want a stable 6.4, I prefer a small delay then a not stable release. But sometimes, I am under the impression you don't place all your energy and all your ressources on 6.4.  Eyal and Guy didn't close bugs recently.

just a thought, and a disapointment

Martin

Re: 6.4 Important delay?

Hi Martin,

Nice to see that you are following us closely ;-)

I can assume that you know that except for fixing bugs, there are a few other major things we did lately, right?

You probably noticed the new KB and the constantly extending Companion Kit tools, those tools require some effort and are curtail for complementing the product from the documentation, knowledge and education angles.

As for 6.4, it's rapidly progressing, and natively, the last issues that remained are more of a research type of issues and occasionally added issues. I feel quite wired to have to tell this to you, but we just finished the summer vacations period, I guess that this fact too had some effect on the speed of progress.

In general, I'm really satisfied with the thousands of issues we were able to solve and the large number of infrastructures we enhanced and created within v6.4 and this time we take it one step at a time with lots of testing and re-testing before we officially release v6.4.

Having said that, 6.4 RC1 is coming out very soon and the official release will be announced in no later than within a few weeks time.

I must point out that RC0a and all the more so the upcoming RC1 are completely usable, and fully supported for production usages. Despite the above, we truly appreciate your patience, and will keep on doing everything we can to boost RC1 and announce the official release as early as we can.

Cheers,
Itzik

Re: 6.4 Important delay?

Thanks for your answer

You should keep informed the members by posting some update like this from times to times.

We have try 6.4RC0 (from 6.3.15) our app was not working correctly with this build, a lot of weird problems were noticeable.  The biggest one was the login page showing anytimes.  We navigate in the app and sudently, login page shows up.  It happens anywhere in the app.  I have reported this here.

We went back to 6.3.15.

Hi again Martin,

Sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with 6.4. Please remember that with this version many things corrected towards .NET Client behaviors.

Many things like the layout calculations and events order have corrected and so, built on 6.3.x you probably need to make some adjustments.

I can suggest the following:

1. Take a close look into this article, describing the diffs from 6.3 here.

2. I will make sure that Sunday morning we will take a closer look at this session timeout phenomenon, I can see that Jay Hobbs has stated that this happens with FF.

I hope this helps…

Thanks,
Itzik Spitzen

Re: 6.4 Important delay?

Hello Martin,

It appears as if this problem you are discussing is not related to the problem reported in the other thread you referenced.
I added a post in that thread now with the additional information.

Regarding the problem you reported of being transferred to the logon Form of your Visual WebGui application unexpectedly:
1. Does this occur in all you Visual WebGui applications?
2. Does this occur on more than one browser type?
3. Does this occur on more than one deployment environment?
4. Does this occur when the user is actively using the application?
5. Are there any special non-default configurations used on those applications, such as KeepConnected?
6. Anything else you can add on the subject...

Please understand that we must be able to reproduce this problem to be able to handle it.

Regards,

Ori Cohen
Support Manager, the Visual WebGui team
