Perfomance issues on ATOM processors and IPAD
Modified By abreuss on 3/7/2011 12:24:40 PM)

Hello,

We have been experiencing perfomance issues with our web application for our clients: on ATOM processors (laptops, 2GB RAM) and IPAD.
Is this a general known issue? Do you have any advices on how to improve performance for these?

Best regards,

Arno

Re: Perfomance issues on ATOM processors and IPAD

Hi Arno,

As far as known performance issues are concerned, they seem to depend more on the browser than on the OS or the device.

We are aware of some general XSLT transformations performance issues on WebKit browsers (like Safari on iPad and iPhone). In the very near future we are going to release the first jQuery based client version, which you should be able to seemlessly upgrade to and which would resolve this XSLT transformations performance issue for non IE browsers. The jQuery version will generally be much more efficient and fast with all the non-IE browsers.

Hope this helps,

Palli

Please include VWG version information with your questions (best: Full name of VWG installation .MSI file)
To send sample code or other files to support, first zip the relevant project or files,
then rename .ZIP file to different extension like .XIP and finally email as attachment to email address above.
Remember to include full Http Url to the forum thread in the message.

Re: Perfomance issues on ATOM processors and IPAD

Hi Palli,

Thank you very much for your answer.

We are experiencing these performance problems on IE, for the ATOM Processors. For other systems, with more powerful processors the web application works ok.
We are having these problems even if we just click in a simple textbox, causing one of the cores going up to 100% cpu usage.

Any other information from your side is very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Arno

Re: Perfomance issues on ATOM processors and IPAD

Hi Arno,

Thank you for the information. In order to try and help, I have a couple of additional questions:

* What version of VWG are you using?
* What types of controls are presented on the screen when it happens? (are there 3rd party controls like ASP.NET, Flash, Silverlight, JavaApplet etc) ---> is there a chance we could get a sample app with which the phenomenon reproduces?

Thanks,
Itzik Spitzen

Hello Itzik,

We are using VWG version  6.4.0 and we use moslty just VWG controls, but also devexpress controls. Our performance problems happen mostly on complex forms, where we load many user controls (with VWG controls), but we also have this on devexpress AspxScheduler control. When we type in a textbox, there are some delays until the characters appear. We observed this behaviour only on slow processors.

We have sent a sample application to illustrate this. This is based on the devexpress AspxScheduler control. Here we had a delay in showing characters right from the start, and iexplorer.exe takes 100% of one core. We compared this with the sample from http://demos.devexpress.com/ASPxSchedulerDemos/Templates/DateHeaderTemplate.aspx , where we did not have this behaviour, and there was almost no CPU usage.

Any suggestion is very much appreciated!

Thanks and best regards,

Arno
