I am also involved in this issue. We have sent a sample application that uses only VWG components and that reproduces this problem.

We realized that using only textboxes and comboboxes is enough to reproduce it, and that a large amount of data in comboxes seems to be causing this performance issue.

This issue can be also seen on more powerful processors, where an increase of the CPU usage up to 40-50% can be observed when typing very fast in a textbox, but on slower processors this issue is more visible due to the delay of characters appearing in the textbox.

I am also from Arno's team and we were informed that you were working on this. Did you find a solution for our performance problem? There was no way for us to minimize data in the comboboxes, so a fix is very important for us.
