Red x when loading image from database

VS2008, .Net3.5, VWG6.4.0

This used to work and has stopped since installing the preview version.

In the DBPictureResourceHandle overload class, the functions GetConnection and GetDataReader no longer are being called. The code has not changed. Are there some new settings somewhere? What can I look for?

Mike

Re: Red x when loading image from database

Hi Mike,

I tested this sample here in 6.4P1 Net3.5 IE7 and everything works like it should.

Please check caching... go through the following and see if it helps:

  • 1. Shut down VS if it's running
  • 2. Delete your browser cache (IE=Delete temporary internet files FF=Clear Private Data + Cache)
  • 3. Go to 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\<Your relevant framework>\Temporary ASP.NET Files, delete all Visual webGui files. Please note that if you are running your app under Visual studio dev web server, this step applies to folder on your local machine. If you are running from a web server, this step applies to that server.
  • 4. Reset IIS if app will not be run within VS Dev webserver
  • 5. Open sample application
  • 6. Delete obj and bin folders (and ClientBin if SilverLight deploy)
  • 7. Delete all Gizmox references
  • 8. Reference the Gixmox DLL's, which now should be correct version
  • 9. Temporarily set "Disable Caching" in General tab of VWG integration (remember setting back if production app). This is equiv to web.config setting:
  •      <add name="VWG_DisableCachingSwitch" value="1" />
  • 10. Increase private version of project
  • 11. Clean
  • 12. Recompile
  • 13. Run in Dev Web server

Let me know how it turns out.

Palli

Re: Red x when loading image from database

Thanks for the suggestions. Much appreciated.

Unfortunately, nothing suggested resolves this issue. I've downloaded the sample code and it does not work either. I get the error shown following when running the sample. There must be some setting in the development environment that's not right.

Re: Red x when loading image from database

Hello,

Please test this application again on VWG v6.3.x.
I get the feeling that somthing may have changed outside of the application that may be causing this problem.

Please tell me what you find.

Regards,
