post prefix prevents the form from reporting the correct form size on load
Modified By JamesC on 5/20/2011 9:04:50 AM)

hi there,

1. start a new blank project

2. add a label to the form

3. in the form_load event set the label text to the form.width property

4. run the project - note that the label reports the correct width

5. edit the url to include the post. prefix to allow parameters to be passed in - note that now the label reports the original form size in the designer not the current form size in the browser

cheers james

Re: post prefix prevents the form from reporting the correct form size on load

Hi James,

Trying hard to reproduce what you describe, but I can not get those results.

What I did was on form load I update the label's text. I also added a button, which on click will update another label with form's current width and height. I then run the application, click the button and compare, then resize the browser just a little and click the button again.

This I tested with or without the post and it gives me consistent results in IE8 and FF3.6.14 for 6.4.0 Release b.

The only thing I found was if I loaded the form without the post, then edited the address and added the post, I get wrong width reported both for the initial load and the button. The button doesn't show correct width until the browser is resized.

I will report that problem when I have checked other versions of Visual WebGui.

Re: post prefix prevents the form from reporting the correct form size on load

Hi again James,

The problem I was able to reproduce now has a tracker entry. Please view it here and follow up on our progress.

Please use the sample application from that tracker entry and see if you can reproduce what you originally reported.

Thanks,

Palli

Re: post prefix prevents the form from reporting the correct form size on load

Hi Palli,

thanks for that

the problem i found was similar (6.4.0) but that using the post prefix it returned the width and height of the form as it was in the designer  when compiled not as it was in the browser when run\initially loaded. So my problem is not really to do with resizing but more to do with the initial load.

Anyway thanks for the confirmation  & looking forward to a quick fix or a workaround

cheers james

Re: post prefix prevents the form from reporting the correct form size on load

Hi James,

You are welcome.

My results didn't show any relation to the form's design size. The reported size what some very different size, bigger than the design size but smaller than the runtime size.
