DateTimePicker popup disappearing on some browsers

Hello,

I have been using VWG for more than three years and only recently encountered a little bug that is driving me crazy. It only happens on some computers, but most work fine.

When I click the arrow to show the calendar popup, it shows and then disappears within half a second, not allowing me to click on anything. I have seen this problem in IE9.

It is not only a IE-version issue, since two computers have the exact same version (IE 9.0.8112.16421 update 9.0.4) and it works fine on one and not in the other.

I am using VWG 6.3.15. I have two different applications, and both exhibit this same behavior.

Has anyone seen this problem before? Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Luis

We have seen this behavior too - i am not sure what causes it, but we had to replace the drop-down date picker with a calendar control because the client could not ever get to pick the date

Actually, on a similar note, we also see this 'flicker and disappear' behavior on property grids, with properties that have a drop down (boolean and enumerations). Its very frustrating.

It seems like a IE issue - firefox seems to work

Wish we had a solution for this

Mitch

Re: DateTimePicker popup disappearing on some browsers

Hi Luis,

I tried to reproduce this locally, using version 6.3.15, but I was not able to. In order for us to be able to fix this, we need to be able to reproduce so we know what is the problem.

I searched through our reported tracker entries in Gemini, but was not able to find any report that would cover this case, so I can find no indication that it has been fixed in the upcoming version.

For troubleshooting, based on the fact that this seems to be an IE only problem and the fact that you have two different machine, one working and the other one showing the problem, I would suggest that you take a look at IE's security settings and compare between those two machines. I would also suggest that you add your website to the Trusted sites list on both of these machines and lower the security on the Trusted Zone, so that you have common ground to base on.

If that does not help, next step would be to get more information on your application or form. Can you reproduce this on a basic form with just DateTimePicker on the form, with no event handlers registered... just a plain vanilla form ?

Re: DateTimePicker popup disappearing on some browsers

Hi Mitch,

I sure would like to be able to reproduce this, so can you look at my last reply to Luis and see if any of that reply would explain or help?

In addition, I would like to know what version of Visual WebGui you are using for your tests, as Luis's version is 6.3.15, and this may have been fixed indirectly after that version was released. Still, I can't reproduce in 6.3.15 either, which indicates the bug may still be around.
