CHM file not displaying correctly
Modified By jharmon@blinfo.com on 11/11/2011 12:30:24 PM)

Sent sample app to support in regards to the Help Dialog not displaying the CHM correctly.  Please keep the attached chm file confidential.  Had this issue before and now it seems to be back.  If you open the CHM directly from your desktop you'll see that the CHM table of contents get rendered differently than when opened from within VWG.

Thanks, Joe

Re: CHM file not displaying correctly

Hi Joe,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I can't find any email from you in the support mailbox with this sample application.

Please check your email and consider to rename the .zip file to some extension that will skip through email filters, like .xip.

Please post again here when you have resent so I know when to look for it.

Re: CHM file not displaying correctly

Palli,

Just resent zip file.  You'll have to rename the help file (CHM) under resources.  I believe that was causing the zip file to be rejected.  Please keep CHM confidential.

Thanks, Joe

Re: CHM file not displaying correctly

Hi Joe,

I got the email this time, thanks.

I can see the difference in the TOC when comparing the Windows CHM help viewer and the Visual WebGui one, but I can not find a Visual WebGUI version that shows the TOC differently than the current version does. I have tested a few 6.4.x versions, all the way back to 6.3.17, and it's the same in every version.

It seems that the CHMFile.cs method ReadFile (part of the open source), is simply reading the TOC wrongly as those two items, for whatever reason.

I will file a case and will report the link back here. It would help though if you remember what version you are referring to when you say the problem is "back", which indicates it was working in an earlier version ?

Hi again Joe,

Not quite sure what to do here. For comparision, I downloaded FileEyes viewer from this list here, and interestingly enough, it shows the TOC the same way Visual WebGui does.

Can it be that there is some error in the TOC, that the Windows CHM viewer somehow works around ?

Any thoughts ?
