Since MS released the Report Builder 2.0, a good and free redistributable Report editing Suite is available:

Fine, but Report Viewer 9 cant display SSRS2008 RDL Format!

Ok - but it will not render due VWG 6.4RC!

The Solution: We can display the SSRS2008 Report within the Browser using Acrobat Reader instead of the MS Viewer.

How to run this Solution:
You´ll need to install Report Viewer 2010, Report Builder 2.0 and Acrobat Reader of cause. (Links above)

The Report Viewer 2010 assembly was already copied out of the GAC. (We´ll need it only for an assembly reference using VS2008)

Test it, by pushing the "Edit" button - the RDL File will be send to the Browser (IE gives a Security warning first time, allow it) Report Builder 2.0 will catch the File.
Save your work to a local Folder and upload it back to the Example-Page using the "Upload" Buttton.
Push the "Preview" button again, to see the Report has changed sucessfully.
This Example can also export as PDF, Excel, Word and Tiff Image.
