I did read that article, but honestly I got a little confused with what to do for the Dev Express 2008 version. Do I need to follow the same basic steps for what was done for SharpDevelop but do it for Web Dev Express 2008? Or just following the steps for the Web Dev Express 2005 version but do it in Web Dev Express 2008? I know these seem like a stupid questions, but I am little lost here.

Mike, I have neither used Express not SharpDevelop, but from the article I would just start the VWG installation process, like the article suggests. Then when you reach the Sharpdevelop section, you skip that and jump directly downto "Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express edition" and continue from there.

I would be gratefull, it is irritating the #¤% out of me, I deleted, installed, re-installed and nothing works, I mean the project, which is just a blank form with a label on it, builds perfectly , yet I still get the server error

Bas, did you try increasing the Private version for your project and recompile ?

Did you clear your browsers cache ?

Did you make sure your project references were all valid and referencing the correct DLL's ?

As it's a simple form you are testing, you can try to create a NEW VWG project and create similar form in there, after you Enable Visual WebGUI on the project. Make sure you create everything from scratch there, no copy from the old project. If that form runs, you know you have one or more of the following problems: caching, references, invalid property settings etc.
