"Developing with Visual WebGui we were able to migrate the system to web environment and even add new features in less time which allows us to offer it over a standard web browser with better performance and no installations as was required with Citrix" Alexander Cuellar
Overview
Brinks Bolivia is a leader in the transport of valuables. The company has a large number of customers which requires a quick and useful access to customer's information in addition to keeping track of individual requests for each customer.
eSAC System allows to register all different kinds of contacts for a customer; addition to maintaining an updated status of each service or customer request, to have accurate information and perform the appropriate procedures for all applications.
Business needs
At Bolivia Brinks quality care to clients is an essential strategy in corporate growth and continuous improvement of services currently provided.
Having a proper description of the requirements of each customer is very important in order to provide better service, and inform customers adequately about the services that are planned and their respective status shows that Brinks Bolivia is a company in which all values can be trusted having a clear understanding of the status of each application.
The main reasons leading to the development of the eSAC System are:
- Register all customer contacts per company, to track all requirements and thus provide an appropriate solution and reasonable period of time.
- Have all information about clients, their agencies and contacts authorized to request sensitive information about their services.
- Provide all information in real time about the status of all services that are in progress.
One of the most important requirements for the implementation of eSAC system is the ability to have all the information related to the operations system Brinks Bolivia and access it with just entering a web browser. The drawback of the first version of system (VB6) was that the application should be published by Citrix to avoid the need to install the application on all computers so you can enter via the web browser.
The application performance was a critical issue because of the limited bandwidth available to connect the various states or departments. Therefore, Brinks Bolivia looked for a solution that would allow it to offer the eSAC system over the web without the need for specific client installations and provide sufficient performance levels even when there is limited bandwidth.
The Solution
It was necessary to change the system from a desktop to a web environment in the shortest possible time while providing a friendly GUI for each user who had been using the desktop version. "Knowing Visual WebGui as a development platform, we had a simple but powerful tool that gave us what we needed in order to implement the new eSAC system," said Alexander Cuellar, Brinks Bolivia Applications Analyst Manager and added that "Visual WebGui allowed the creation of graphical user interfaces for Web environment very similar to desktop environment with extremely friendly controls that can be used without any knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, XML or AJAX."
The development team experienced shorter development cycles compared to Web application development with ASP.NET Classic. "It was really easy to connect each interface with the database in MS SQL2005 having a standard level of reading and writing data besides the classic rules of each form validation," stated Alexander Cuellar who also said that "Using this tool we could show a lot of information in a single interface in an orderly manner using tables and splits. And the conventional user of Excel found it very easy handling of statistics and graphics data in the reports provided by Visual WebGui."
Benefits
Using Visual WebGui allowed the development of similar interfaces in richness and functionality but more lightweight which contribute to enhancing the performance compared the previous system over web, especially when connectivity is limited.
“Before using Visual WebGui as a development tool, each change in the system had to be done individually for each branch and also the changes were not simple as it affected not only in HTML but style sheets, internal code and links to the Database now the change is simple and can be viewed at all branches at once.” Alexander Cuellar.
"Developing on Visual WebGui we were able to migrate the system to web environment and even add new features in less time which allows us to offer it over a standard web browser with better performance and no installations as was required with Citrix," concluded Alexander Cuellar. The coupling of the new version to the various branches has been a success. Users can say that with the new web based system information is handled in a more quickly and accurately way providing a better service to customers.
