Gizmox among top 3 most promising startups in Israel

Kaltura, Inovid and Gizmox are the 3 finalists of the "Most Promising Internet Startup" competition for 2009 by Microsoft & TheMarker out of 28 startup companies that qualified for participation... Out of the 3 finalists, the most promising startup company will be announced at the COM.Vention TheMarker's Internet convention which will take place on March 29th.
…Gizmox was founded in 2007 by Guy Peled, Navot Peled and Dan Lichtenfeld and has raised about $1.5m since. The company received investments from the Infinity private equity fund and Arie Scope the former CEO of Microsoft Israel. Gizmox develops a web platform named Visual WebGui which enables a secure deployment of rich internet applications at the same richness, performance and responsiveness levels as current desktop applications without the need to install any browser plug-ins. The platform allows to run applications in all browsers as well as in both web and desktop environments from the same code base. The business model of the company is to charge only for premium products or extensions to enhance design time and run time capabilities over the platform.
This is the 4th year that the Promising Startup competition takes place. The qualification criteria were: The company had already at least one round of hedge fund investments, The R&D center must be located in Israel, and the company does one of the following: end-user software, software & Internet services or development with Microsoft technologies.
