Habanero’s 2.0.1b release includes a sample project with the full download, illustrating one application developed for both desktop and web.
The integration of Visual WebGUI by Gizmox into Habanero v2 allows the application to be released either on the desktop or the web, and successfully simulates the rich controls of Windows Forms and hugely enhances bandwidth use for data-rich web applications.
Gizmox is poised to create a new standard in cloud computing. Visual WebGui (VWG) is a new 'Web like Desktop' platform that offers an open source rapid application development (RAD) framework for line-of-business AJAX & Silverlight applications atop the platform.
I quite like the look of - Visual WebGui - it build on lots of Microsoft stuff I already know, it produces very cool looking AJAX applications very quickly, it hides lots of nasty javascript and D/XHTML complexities from you...
Visual Web Gui might be a really good way to connect web content to a silverlight application. There’s always been the standard approach of interacting with the web content through Silverlight’s own reference to the web page as an object
A few months ago we, were commissioned to undertake a project that required what most of us in the office cringe at, an ASP project, more specifically and ASP intranet project. So after some bad and tedious experiences with ASP just a few weeks earlier but still wanting to do this project, we scoured the interwebs for any tool that could some how help our interaction with ASP. We found what can only be described as a GOD-Sent, Visual WebGUI or VWG as its known.
The developer of an open-source rapid application development framework is now using Silverlight at the presentation layer. The framework is built to create line-of-business applications that run on Microsoft’s Internet Information Services Web server...
"I want to say that this tool could be a game-changer. Like a lot of folks who have been around too long in this business, I remember the buzz when Visual Basic hit the market. Back then, to build Windows applications you had to choose between WinSDK+C, or use a 3rd party tools like PowerBuilder or Gupta. Then VB changed everything. The average developer could jump in and build pretty functional Windows apps with a nominal amount of training..."
"If you are looking to develop AJAX & Silverlight Applications in a very productive manner, I recommend checking out Visual WebGui to see if it can make you more productive. They recently released version 6.1..."
"Gizmox really is revoluationary. In fact our company hardly did any web work but after finding Gizmox VisualWebGUI not only have we began doing web work but also re-wrote large parts of our ORM architecture to support Visual WebGUI and as such made the ORM Open Source..."
"Web 2.0 technologies are empowering enterprises in ways we could only have imagined a few years ago. They have evolved beyond consumer-grade blogs and wikis into enterprise-class solutions driving collaboration, productivity, sales and cost savings..."
"Navot and Gai Peled who run Gizmo, Ltd., an Israeli startup, have enabled their Visual WebGui environment to redirect Siliverlight calls across the network, enabling the Silverlight applications to run on any desktop without client software..."
We have been watching the technology behind the Visual WebGui by Gizmox with some interest since last year. The server side AJAX framework based on ASP.NET seem to provide security, scalability and performance.
I know I saw Visual WebGui a while back, I remembered it when I watched the video today... but they've got a fully funtional Beta out that could bear watching and using! The link I used is a blog post about it, and has links out to the real stuff... videos, promos, etc.... have fun!
"I won’t say that I’m not impressed by what they’ve accomplished technically. It’s impressive. They use a WinForms designer to build parts of the user interface and the logic of the application.
Ajax framework can help us to quickly develop web pages that can call web services and server pages through javascript without having to submit the current page. Recent Web-applications tend to use them to provide more interactivity and guarantee better functionality.
The ASP.NET community has released some new videos for June, ranging from how to “Detect Browser Capabilities in ASP.NET Web Pages” to “Managing the look and feel of Silverlight 2 controls”. They always do a great job, so check these out when you get a chance!
"Have you seen this? Its not just another AJAX Framework, it is the end all and be all of AJAX Frameworks including full design time support. This stuff is just amazing. Browse through the demo. It even comes with a decent licensing model."
It is used to create ASP.NET web applications with a very AJAX like experience - without the AJAX programming hassle. It may be worth it to you to give it a try. Though it's little rough around the edges at this point, this product can be used today to produce web applications from .NET Windows Forms projects. And - the developer is rapidly improving the product each month.
