Dear Visual WebGui users,
As 2008 shifts into 2009 I'd like to take the opportunity to share some thoughts with you and announce and explain Gizmox's, the company behind Visual WebGui, policy change. Over the past year Gizmox has seen Visual WebGui mature with a growing, vibrant community scattered all over the globe. More than 30,000 Visual WebGui applications have been deployed to date and this number is growing daily. Visual WebGui applications are already being deployed by banks, insurance companies, military forces, aerospace companies, government agencies and many more.
This very fast growth has forced us to speed up our commercial offering to support an increasing demand for mission critical deployments.
We have been asked over and over for commercially warranted products and services to support mission critical deployments. You, the Visual WebGui community, have been asking us for enterprise-class products and services to support your needs. We are very aware of your need to commit to timely and quality delivers.
The recent economic downturn, coupled with Visual WebGui's cost saving value, has also resulted in a sharp rise in demand for Visual WebGui based solutions. This has further pushed us to advance our commercial release.
We are now ready to respond to those needs with a commercial Studio Suite with an enhanced designer which enables building Visual WebGui commercial, enterprise-class applications supported by enterprise-class support, warranties and SLAs.
In order to support a professional enterprise–class designer we had to focus our resources on a commercial designer which can now be found in the Professional Studio. For those of you who wish to go on developing non–commercial Visual WebGui applications, using the VWG drag & drop designer, we offer an Express Edition.
The beginning of a new year sees us launching our new web site, yet another milestone in our short evolution and a great opportunity to share some great news. Our new commercial Studio Suite will include professional service offerings such as prototyping, consulting, hot-fixes and more.
Visual WebGui's basic tool that can also serve as run time for applications in production - the VWG SDK will remain open source for those of you who are satisfied with our open source license and you can go on using it as before.
Our new Professional Studio offers an enhanced DX (Developer Experience) with full integration with Visual Studio and new enterprise-class features. See the Visual WebGui Professional Studio product page for more information. We will continue to update the new Studio with additional developer productivity features according to the Visual WebGui roadmap.
You, our loyal Visual WebGui community members, have contributed a lot in taking Visual WebGui from a dream to a reality, and I'd like to personally thank you for all the efforts.
You have asked us to enable commercial deployments with no deployment fees, and we are happy to fulfill your requests. There are NO deployment fees. Deployment is absolutely free. This is possible due to your help. Your contributions to our QA and real-world feedbacks have allowed us to price Visual WebGui at very convenient prices with no deployment fees.
The new Professional Studio is being offered as a subscription which entitles updates, free deployments throughout the subscription period and unlimited technical electronic support with a 24 hours SLA that covers technical issues such as getting started, installation and deployment issues etc. Commercial support will be provided through a commercial support forum attended exclusively by Gizmox Visual WebGui professionals. To facilitate a smooth, easy and convenient transition from open source to commercial, and to express our gratitude to those of you who supported Visual WebGui from the start, we are offering an exclusive migration path.
Community members who submit a case study describing their existing use of Visual WebGui in at least one project will be offered 75% discount on the list price of the Visual WebGui Studio Suite. The promotional prices will be valid for 2 months – February & March 2009.
As I've said before, those of you, who settle with the open source option, are welcome to go on using the Visual WebGui Community (open source) SDK, and continue to receive support from the Visual WebGui community on our community forums. Allow me to wish you and your families a very happy and prosperous new year, and continued enjoyment of Visual WebGui.
