Gizmox, which produces an AJAX development framework, is partnering with software transformation service maker ArtinSoft to create a solution for customers to port Visual Basic 6 (VB6) applications to the Web.
A two-step migration solution will be commercially available in November after Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference, said Navot Peled, CEO and founder of Gizmox.
Customers use ArtinSoft's VB Migration Services to transform VB6 applications into Common Intermediate Language; they can then be compiled into a .NET language, he explained. The code can then be copied and pasted into Gizmox's Visual WebGUI AJAX development framework, which can generate a presentation layer in HTML or Silverlight 3. Flash support is planned, said Peled.
